Yesterday, June 30th 1963, Martin Luther King delivered a speech that has been admired and very well received by the American public, specially african-american people. The reason why this speech caused such an impact is because it has been a very long time since someone took place as the voice of african-american people.

1) Content and Theme: I have a Dream, Martin Luther King 1963

Throughout the years, we can notice that Martin Luther King, along with his speech "I have a dream", has been a real inspiration for other political parties in the sense of equality and brotherhood. Nowadays people in general aren't discriminated by the color of their skin, which has been a great progress for not only the American society but for many other countries. This civil rights movement didn't necessarily start with King, but he was definitely the one who aloud the African American people to be heard, by using different terms like equality of brotherhood.

The use of the theme brotherhood is very well implemented in this speech since he at first refers to us people as "God's children", that emphasizes equality and brotherhood. But right before, he quotes "Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood". Here he compares racial injustice as quicksands with brotherhood as a solid rock. These quotes and devices used are what changed the world's perspective on civil rights and what makes our society what it is today. So in conclusion I would say that Martin Luther King would feel very accomplished, if he were still alive, but at the same time probably a little unsatisfied because as he says in his speech, "We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality".
